Mistletoe Technologies Completes Strategic Expansion into Infrastructure Solutions by Becoming GigaFin Networks

Expanded Corporate Strategy Positions GigaFin Networks to Lead in Security and Traffic Management Solutions for Network Infrastructure

CUPERTINO, Calif. - October 15, 2007 — Mistletoe Technologies today unveiled a new corporate name, Gigafin Networks, together with an expanded direction to provide security and traffic management solutions for high performance datacenters. GigaFin Networks solutions offer the most power efficient, compact form factor appliances for monitoring network behavior, optimizing network performance and defending infrastructure from attack at Gigabit speeds. The expanded direction coincides with the introduction of new solutions and channel strategies also announced today.

Networks have become a mission critical component of today's business and the growth in the number of servers and server farms has put additional stress on the infrastructure to provide both security and optimal performance. The traditional perimeter defense and network optimization architecture is no longer a viable option for datacenters consisting of many complex internal networks and server farms running at Gigabit speeds. Due to the nature of datacenter networks, solutions must offer scalability, reliability and a compelling total cost of ownership. This is particularly true for academic and research institutions and service providers where the internal network consists of thousands of hosts in many different network topologies. In addition, application traffic must be optimized, yet malicious or abusive traffic must be detected and remediated.

GigaFin Networks is in the unique position to solve these customer problems with its line of appliances - SlimLine and FlowLine. Both product lines provide:

  • Lowest cost of ownership offering Gigabit throughput at 15Watts power consumption at one-fifth the size and one-tenth the cost of existing appliances

  • Unprecedented traffic monitoring, traffic shaping and attack remediation features in a cost-effective package

These characteristics of GigaFin appliances enable deployment at multiple critical points throughout the network and in front of server farms, overcoming the limitations of existing network appliances.

"We pride ourselves on providing our customers complete control over their network with the best internal protection for mission-critical IT assets and visibility into application performance," said William Thomas, CEO of GigaFin Networks. "Our corporate strategy has expanded to meet the increasing customer demand for true Gigabit performance solutions that are cost-effective, scalable and reliable. We have responded with solutions that can complement existing perimeter solutions and solve emerging problems within the network infrastructure."

GigaFin Networks appliances are deployed in academic institutions and service provider networks, typically consisting of the most complex infrastructures running at the highest speeds. SlimLine and FlowLine appliances with built-in firewall and AntiDoS provide access control and attack prevention for mission critical server farms that provide online gaming and mobile applications to millions of customers. These appliances also include the ability to monitor and shape network flows to optimize traffic for critical services while also providing early detection for anomalous traffic.

Reflected in the new corporate strategy is an increased focus on the channel and developing relationships with value-added resellers (VARs). The SlimLine and FlowLine series of appliances are unique, differentiated solutions that enhance existing network infrastructure, providing more opportunities for channel partners to offer complete solutions.

"Over the past year, our business strategy of bringing our patented RDX processor technology to market has allowed us to identify certain underserved customer segments," said Mervyn Alamgir, Director of Marketing for GigaFin Networks. "We are working with channels and value-added partners who are interested in expanding their product offerings for an existing customer base and/or increasing their reach into new markets."
